È arivato nella giornata del 9 febbraio l’annuncio dell’Academy Awards sulla “shortlist” ufficiale delle candidature, ovvero 9 delle molteplici categorie che andranno a formare la notte cinematografica più glamour di sempre fissata per domenica 25 aprile 2021. Solitamente la cerimonia si celebra tra la metà e la fine del mese di febbraio ma le condizioni pandemiche hanno costretto l’organizzazione a posticipare ma fortunatamente non a cancellare.
L’Italia, forse non memore dello smacco del 2016, ripete la stessa procedura ottenendo lo stesso risultato: candida il docu-film “Notturno” di Gianfranco Rosi nella categoria di “Miglior Film Internazionale”, questo viene escluso e si vira a farlo gareggiare in “Miglior Documentario”. Come detto, stesso iter del 2016 con il docu-film “Fuocoammare”, sempre di Rosi. Si spera, data la discutibile scelta di dubbia furbizia, di vincere almeno la statuetta come fu per il precedente lavoro. Oltre al regista citato, in rappresentanza dell’Italia vi è Laura Pausini, che concorrerà alla categoria “Miglior Canzone Originale” con “Io Sì”, facente parte del film “La Vita davanti a Sé” che vede il grande ritorno di Sophia Loren.
